“I am a General Pediatrician in Seattle and I have to say that our community was very sad to say goodbye to Sarah Tyack when she moved to the Bay Area.
I first discovered Sarah several years ago when a colleague of mine who is a Doula had observed Sarah working with one of her clients. She reported that Sarah was wonderful with these stressed, overwhelmed Mothers who were struggling to get their newborn to latch onto their breast.

I started referring my Mothers who were having struggles with breastfeeding to Sarah and they all returned with rave reviews and with newborns who were now successful at Breastfeeding.
I continued to refer to Sarah afterward and was never disappointed! Sarah has unlimited patience, as well as excellent technique with lactation advice.

She makes house calls, which is a huge relief to these sleep deprived Mothers. One of the most valuable qualities that I have found in Sarah and is that she notifies the referring doctor if she sees warning signs of possible post partum depression, or concerns with the baby. She recommends frenotomies when appropriate, as well as referrals to the Occupational therapists at Seattle Children’s Hospital when she feels that the newborn may have a more complex oral motor feeding abnormality.
Sarah always managed to fit struggling Mothers and newborns in to see her, regardless of how busy she already was! Sarah’s patience, expertise and kindness with my families made her my preferred lactation specialist in the entire Seattle area. I will miss her very much, as will my patients!”

I emailed Sarah very late one Sunday night after seeing six other lactation consultants and taking my baby to see a pediatric occupational therapist because I couldn’t get my baby to breastfeed. Every time I would get her on the breast, she would fall asleep. None of the techniques or exercises suggested were helping us to breastfeed and I was getting to the end of my rope.

Sarah responded to my email first thing the next morning and came to visit me that same day. She asked me about the issues we’d been having, then sat down with me and my daughter and had us breastfeeding within 60 seconds.

[…]

From then on, breastfeeding became so much easier […] Sarah also followed up by email and telephone to make sure everything was going okay. Plus, she offers a weekly support group – I haven’t been able to make it yet, but I plan to as soon as my schedule allows for it.

I’m really grateful to Sarah and highly recommend her!

All the reviews are TRUE!!! 5 stars! She was a lifesaver! I’m a first-time mom and was having breastfeeding issues with my 4 month old […] especially accompanied by postpartum anxiety. I was hardly getting any sleep and was in a lot of pain because of it (tried everything I read online and felt like just giving up and just admitting myself to a hospital). I’m so glad I called her!

Sarah responded to my email really fast and even gave me a call right away. After talking and assessing that I did need immediate help, she made time to come to my house the next day and answered not just breastfeeding questions/concerns, but even other postpartum or health/motherhood questions I had.

She was genuinely concerned and was very caring. With her professionalism, care and experience/credentials, it was easy to see why she is definitely one of the top lactation consultants in Seattle! Highly recommend her!

The information and support you will get is priceless! She is also an expert/trained in helping mothers with postpartum depression/anxiety.

When I called Sarah […] on a Sunday morning, I was 5 days out of an emergency C-Section and a complete wreck. I could barely get the words out over the phone to ask for help through my sobs. My milk didn’t come in right away, I became quickly engorged and baby was frantic every time we tried to nurse and wouldn’t latch at all anymore.

Sarah was at our home by that afternoon helping my baby get fed, calming me down and giving my family a clear plan spelling out exactly what to do over the coming days to get the baby’s weight back up, help me with my own body and get my baby and I back on track to nursing together. She spent a few hours with us and it was absolutely transformative.

[…]

Sarah is wonderful, calm and completely reassuring. I was in the thickets of the hardest week of my life when she swooped in and by Wednesday evening I felt like I was nearing the other side.

I really don’t know how to thank Sarah enough.

A visit from Sarah definitely feels like THE turning point in my journey of breastfeeding my son. I was struggling with many issues and a lot of doubts. A couple of visits to the lactation clinic did not seem to help much. My son was 4 weeks old and that was when my mom and I decided that a house visit by a lactation nurse might help. Then I stumbled upon Sarah through Yelp and I do thank my stars I did. She was so warm and friendly.

She gave me the confidence to breastfeed and spent a couple of hours training me and my son. She showed me so clearly what had been going wrong so far.

We needed a couple of appointments with her, but in a couple of weeks time, I was able to breastfeed without hassles. Sarah has also promptly replied to every email I have sent her since then for every concern I may have. I definitely recommend Sarah to any mom with breastfeeding issues.

Sarah is compassionate and so very knowledgeable as a lactation consultant.

I sent her a message after having soreness and an infection. I was very frustrated.

She called me right away and spent 2 hours with me on a Saturday to practice latching. She was so friendly and supportive and I feel like I can reach out to her again with any other issues. I am also excited to attend her weekly group to connect with other moms.

She is definitely an amazing resource to reach out to for breastfeeding help. If you are having ANY issues call her immediately.

I found [Sarah] on Yelp when my baby was just a few days old. He wasn’t nursing well and I wasn’t producing well – bad combination. Sarah spent a few hours with me and we developed a plan to get us on a path to breast feeding success.

That was seven months ago and I still depend on Sarah for solid, sound breast feeding advice. Recently I went through another difficult time when my baby wasn’t eating enough and I, again, wasn’t producing enough. We came up with another plan to get my baby’s weight and my milk supply back up without having to resort to formula. My baby is well fed now and I feel confident that I am armed with good tools and knowledge to prevent my supply from ever being at risk again.

Sarah is always responsive to my calls and e-mails and I find her support group helpful to discuss with her and other breast feeding moms challenges that I may still be facing.

What sets Sarah apart is that she doesn’t feel like a “consultant” that comes in, fixes a problem, collects payment, and leaves. She sincerely cares about her clients and has been an integral, continuous resource in my support system as a first-time mom.

Sarah is truly the “breast whisperer” and has changed our lives! She is absolutely amazing and cares about her clients! I honestly don’t know what we would have done if we hadn’t met with her. I wanted to share my experience since these reviews played an important role in us deciding to meet with her.

Seeing how devastated and desperate I was, my husband researched lactation consultants in Seattle and found Sarah. We called her right at 9 a.m., and after hearing our situation she made time for us to see her that afternoon. We packed up and made the 2 hour drive to Seattle with our baby, and it was the best decision we have ever made! Sarah took the time to get to know us and was nothing but supportive. I was an overly emotional mess, and she was able to calm my anxieties.

I was an overly emotional mess, and she was able to calm my anxieties. . . . We spent a little over an hour with her, and I left feeling like a completely different and better mom!

Sarah did not see the need for any formula supplementation and restored my faith in being able to exclusively breastfeed.

She answered any and all questions my husband and I had. We spent a little over an hour with her, and I left feeling like a completely different and better mom! She was even willing to discuss more concerns I had that night after we got home and told me to email her about anything else.

If you are having any breastfeeding difficulties, meet with Sarah!!!

I sought services with a lactation consultant after nearly four weeks of feeling as if something just wasn’t right with feeding my son. Sarah contacted me the same day as my inquiry and offered an appointment almost immediately – and I contacted her on a Sunday!

Sarah is experienced, knowledgeable, and I felt comfortable with her right away (very important given the vulnerability of these kinds of appointments). The fact that she was able to come into our home and work within the space that I would be in day-to-day was an added bonus. Not only was I comfortable, but it allowed for me to practice everything that I would be doing with hands-on precision, rather than in an unfamiliar office somewhere that I’d never go again.

Sarah took her time answering all of my questions and provided support until I felt comfortable and everything was covered. There was no rush, and I genuinely felt as if she wanted me to succeed in my breastfeeding goals . . .

Sarah was also incredibly helpful in coordinating with our son’s pediatrician and my own doctor for other needs that we had, and followed up with me afterward to make sure that things were taken care of. I cannot recommend her services highly enough for any breastfeeding mother!

My husband and I spent a good chunk of the morning trying to find out where we could get access to a lactation consultant on the weekend. Everywhere we tried said we’d have to wait til Monday or take baby to the ER, neither of which we wanted to do.

Enter Sarah. She was professional, prepared, efficient and patient. She gave us successful strategies to use and put us on a schedule to get baby healthy and back on track.

Sarah is simply incredible. My husband and I were desperate for a lactation consultant on a Saturday and after a quick phone call, Sarah said she could be to our home in as little as an hour. What a difference her visit made!

Sarah is genuinely happy when the babies and moms she assists do well and it shows.

All in all I am so pleased we found Sarah, and would suggest to services to anyone experiencing any kind of difficulty with breastfeeding.
