I can’t speak highly enough about Sarah. I had been having difficulties with nursing for 3 months – been to the doctor’s, seen other lactation consultants – but things still weren’t going well. I was ready to give up, but figured I would give it one more try. Sarah came to my home, spent a lot of time speaking with me about my experiences and then was able to pinpoint the problem. I fed my son without tears (his or mine) for the first time with Sarah’s guidance.

As a medical professional myself, I would definitely recommend Sarah to any of my patients in the future.

I would absolutely recommend Sarah! There cannot be enough said about a GOOD lactation consultant for a new nursing mother. […] My husband found Sarah on Yelp. […] Sarah responded to our e-mail within an hour that night and came out to our house the next day and spent time with me.

I have left my consults with her feeling more confident rather than feeling like crying.

She really seems to take a personal interest in her clients.

Sarah was enormously helpful! She came highly recommended by a friend of mine and she was everything my friend said she would be…knowledgeable, helpful, personable.

Her vast experience is immediately obvious and the tips she gave me were instantly helpful.

My baby is 7 weeks old and in general, breastfeeding has been “going well”, but I’ve been experiencing constant pain. With Sarah’s help, we’re on the right track now and feel so much better! I highly recommend her services.

Sarah arrived within 24 hours and immediately set our minds at ease. Her confidence and consoling demeanor were just what we needed. After assessing our daughter’s latch she identified some areas to improve and set to work gently trying different things. From her magic bag of tricks she produced a Supplemental Nursing System and taught us how to use it. We also learned some new positions to try that alleviated the intense pain my wife was experiencing during a feed.

I credit her with the fact that we are now successfully breastfeeding our daughter with no fuss or pain every day.

I should also mention that Sarah has been incredibly responsive after her visit even today (7 weeks later), with followup emails, phone calls, and texts to readily answer any of our concerns.

Sarah is a star and I recommend her at every chance I get.

PS — If you have insurance, Sarah’s visit is covered 100% thanks to Women’s Preventative Health Care guidelines enacted in August of 2011, so there really is no reason not to reach out to her for help. Personally I think a visit from a lactation consultant is a no-brainer for all new moms.

My husband found Sarah after reading her rave reviews and checking out her website. He was trying to help me find a new lactation consultant I could work with after hitting a low in my breastfeeding experience while our son was 6 weeks old.

Thank god he found Sarah — she was exactly who I needed to help solve my problems…

Sarah is exactly the sort of person you want to see when you’re exhausted, frustrated, and more often than not, in some amount of pain – she was empathetic and listened carefully to the issues that I was having.

The fact that she is also a registered nurse and has 20+ years of lactation experience was reassuring…

Sarah responded to my email super promptly and she not only helped me with my issues (latch, engorgement/oversupply), but she also gave me the hope that I will be able to achieve my goal of breastfeeding my baby for a year.

I frantically emailed Sarah one day at 3am with breastfeeding concerns and got a phone call from her the next morning by 9:30 on a Saturday. She came to our house that day at noon and was absolutely wonderful.

Sarah is not only a very knowledgable lactation consultant, she is also an experienced registered nurse.

She stayed as long as we needed her (which ended up being about two hours), and I never felt rushed or silly for asking a myriad of “first-time mom” questions.

[UPDATE:]

Nine months after seeing her initially, I emailed her frantically with more nursing concerns. She got back to me right away, remembered me and my family, and offered wonderful support and advice over the phone. Sarah is an AMAZING and wonderful resource to the Seattle breastfeeding community.

Suman Tewari, OB/GYN

“I have a two and half month old baby, whom I have been breastfeeding. We had a difficult start with him being re-hospitalized in the first week of life. Breastfeeding was not easy (natural) for us.

Sarah came highly recommended and we are delighted that we contacted her.

She was prompt in her response and visited us the following day. She is very knowledgeable and takes the time to understand the problem before proposing a solution. I would recommend Sarah Tyack without any hesitation as a lactation consultant. In fact, I am a physician, so I will be referring my patients who are faced with breastfeeding challenges to her.”

“My first children were twins. I was extremely sore, pumping seven to eight times a day but not making enough milk for two. I was tempted to throw in the nursing towel.

Sarah was a life saver!

She helped me identify that I had an infection (which quickly went away); she helped me set a doable schedule for pumping and nursing; and she helped me relax and become less stressed about the whole process. I only wish I’d worked with her before I had my children — I would have avoided a lot of discomfort and stress.”

“Breastfeeding was a definite challenge for me. I received a lot of conflicting advice from a variety of sources which didn’t help resolve my breastfeeding issues or build my confidence. I realized that I needed help and contacted my doctor for the name of a recommended lactation consultant.

Sarah Tyack was highly recommended by my doctor, my child’s pediatrician and the Swedish Mom’s Line.

I really enjoyed working with Sarah. She was professional, kind, insightful and very responsive. I called her and she came to my home the next day. She provided helpful counsel, tools and exercises that addressed my specific breastfeeding challenges. This information, combined with her encouragement and friendly nature, built my confidence. As Sarah is also a registered nurse, she gave me suggestions on how to address my other post-partum issues as well.

After working with Sarah, I felt more comfortable with the breastfeeding experience and was able to overcome my challenges.”
